Acupuncture and Emotional Support
Modern day life can be a balancing act – fast and overwhelming – there is always somewhere you need to be, or something you need to do. Often these demands on your time result in you putting yourself very much at the bottom of the pile in terms of self care. Add in other factors beyond your control such as exams, relationships, friendships, pregnancy, divorce, moving house and bereavement and it can become too much to handle.
A lack of self care can present itself in different ways: a poor diet, insufficient sleep, excessive activity or self doubt. In Chinese Medicine this creates imbalance in the body which may give rise to emotional symptoms such as:
- feeling overwhelmed
- stress headaches
Whilst there may be factors in your life you are unable to change, ensuring you look after your body as well as possible on a physical level can greatly minimise emotional symptoms.
Research has shown that acupuncture treatment may specifically benefit symptoms of anxiety, depression and stress. My approach to treatment encompasses mind and body, addressing both lifestyle and environment, nutrition and physical activity, as well as treating any physical causes that may be contributing to your symptoms.
