Fabulous! Spring has arrived it’s time to shake off the winter blues, open your windows, soak in the sunshine, and let the vibrant energy of spring inspire you!

The past few months may have felt long and dark, but just a hint of sunshine and the sight of bright yellow daffodils are enough to lift our spirits again. The crisp morning air, the gentle warmth of the sun, and the songs of birds returning from their winter retreat all signal a time of renewal and transformation.

This year, more than ever, I have noticed a sense of stagnation among my clients. After a winter of hibernation—both physically and emotionally—it’s no surprise that many of us have felt stuck. Perhaps you’ve been less active, struggled with motivation, or simply felt weighed down by the demands of daily life. But the good news is: this is about to change!

Even if the weather takes its time warming up, nature is stepping in to help you move again. The longer days and fresh, invigorating air encourage us to stretch, breathe deeply, and embrace the shift in energy that Spring brings.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), every season is linked to a specific organ, and Spring is connected to the Liver, which plays a crucial role in moving energy throughout the body. The Liver is responsible for the smooth flow of Qi (energy), emotions, and even digestion. When the Liver is balanced and flowing smoothly, we feel energized, emotionally stable, and physically well.

Spring is all about movement and renewal—trees start budding, flowers bloom, and the days grow longer. Just as nature awakens, our bodies respond to this seasonal shift. However, if Liver energy becomes stagnant, it can lead to symptoms like irritability, frustration, headaches, or fatigue. If you’ve been feeling on edge lately, you’re not alone! The good news is that with a little support, your Liver energy can flow freely again, helping you feel lighter, clearer, and more vibrant.

So, how can you harness the revitalizing energy of Spring and shake off the sluggishness of winter? Here are some simple but powerful ways to align with the season and boost your well-being:

How to Embrace Spring Energy and Shake Off Stagnation:

1. BREATHE! Every morning, stand or sit at an open window and take 10 deep, slow breaths. Aim for a five-second inhale and a five-second exhale, breathing through your nose. Do this several times a day to bring fresh energy into your body and encourage movement. Deep breathing oxygenates your body, clears mental fog, and releases built-up tension.

2. SHAKE IT OUT! After your breathing exercises, shake your arms, hands, feet, and body for 3-5 minutes. Don’t worry about how you look—just focus on how good it feels to wake up your energy and shake off sluggishness. This simple act of movement loosens up stagnation, increases circulation, and lifts your mood almost instantly.

3. MASSAGE & STRETCH! If you feel foggy-headed or tense, massage the Gallbladder channel on your head (a partner to the Liver in TCM). This simple practice improves circulation, boosts mood, and helps release built-up tension. Adding gentle stretches, especially those that open the sides of your body, can also help improve energy flow and relieve tightness.

4. GET OUTSIDE! Spring is an invitation to reconnect with nature. Whether it’s a short walk in the park, gardening, or simply sitting in the sun, spending time outdoors helps reset your body’s internal rhythms, refresh your mind, and naturally boost your mood.

5. EAT SEASONALLY! Support your Liver by eating fresh, light, and vibrant foods. Leafy greens, citrus fruits, sprouts, and herbs like mint and dandelion are wonderful choices to nourish and detoxify your body, helping energy move more freely.

Spring is here, and with it comes a natural invitation to move, breathe, and feel alive again. Take advantage of this seasonal shift to restore balance, embrace movement, and refresh both your mind and body.

Welcome the energy of Spring—let it inspire and revitalize you!
