Acupuncture and Women’s Health

Women’s Health is generally accepted to encompass gynaecology, fertility, pregnancy, post natal and menopause and refers to ‘medicine that focuses on the treatment and diagnosis of diseases and conditions that affect a woman’s physical and emotional well-being’ correctly highlighting the close relationship between the physical and emotional body.

It can be tricky to establish a clear understanding of what your body needs in order to thrive, in spite of the huge amount of information at your fingertips. It can also be challenging to work out how to resolve symptoms you may be experiencing, resulting in you putting up with often unnecessary symptoms, believing them to be ‘part and parcel of being a woman’. Other times these symptoms may feel too embarrassing to discuss, sadly resulting in them being ignored or accepted.

As a complete system of medicine acupuncture encompasses women’s health and symptoms that may benefit from acupuncture treatment include:

  • Pre Menstrual Syndrome (PMS)
  • lack of periods, irregular periods, heavy periods, painful periods
  • absence of, or irregular, ovulation
  • stress incontinence
  • prolapse
  • endometriosis
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
  • painful intercourse
  • thrush
  • cystitis

Whatever the reason, my passion is treating these conditions through acupuncture, nutrition and lifestyle advice, to help you gain a clearer understanding of your body and to support you in maintaining good health.
